Does anyone know how to launch excel from the smartlist builder with out using a ThinApp install of Office?
We have office already on our build and when clicking excel or word, the smart list builder reports that the problem cannot be found.

No, but you have to make some changes to the package, see the manual

I ran into the same problem in the past where the ChildProcessEnvironmentExceptions entry by itself didn't work. Try adding one or both of these your package and see if it helps. These are for Outlook 2007.

thinapp is a virtualisation tool, not a deployment tool

could it be that the application wants to write data in a temp folder on the c partition and that u have restricted that with a policy?
if so, you have to set that folder to writecopy in your package or redirect the tempdir to c:\temp and give the users write access

I have been able to launch the Help in a browser by adding the following to package.ini:
ChildProcessEnvironmentExceptions=iexplore.exe
At this time I have added iexplore.exe to the entry points. I will have to double check if this works if I remove the entry point.
I won't have timeto App for the next week or two so I'll post back when I know more.
Thnx for all the help so far!

The help problem is caused by a mismatch between C:\Program Files on 32-bit and C:\Program Files (x86) on 64-bit. Capture on 32-bit, but instead of using the default C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12 location install to C:\Office.

Can you post details on your apps (names, versions, etc.) and how you packaged them (custom settings)? I'd love to test this.
Have you been able to recreate this issue with other ThinApp packages? This is sounding application or environment specific as no one else has reported this as an issue with something like a simple app which has multiple entry points.
Thanks,

look within your sandbox if the temp files are there.
it looks like you have an isolation issue, for example a temp directory thats not 'merged'
