Thinapp user profiles
Friday, 30 April 2010

Hey,

Ryan is correct. Just to add to his comment, you have mentioned that two users will be using the same application.
So, likely you will place the ThinApped package on a shared path or network drive. This calls for two scenario's:

Scenario 1: Sandbox location is default i.e. User profile.

Two users access a thinapped application on a shared drive.
Sandboxes for each user gets created under "C:\DocumentsAndSettings\UserProfile\ApplicationData" on their individual machinces.
So, changes made by one user does not affect the other and vice-versa.

Scenario 2: Sandbox location set to a shared network drive. Eg: \\ServerName\Folder\Sandbox

Two users access a thinapped application on a shared drive.
Say User A access the application first, the sandbox is created on the shared path as "\\ServerName\Folder\UserA_Sandbox".
So, for the first user, it creates the sandbox using the Inventory name of the application.
Eg: \\ServerName\Folder\Mozilla Firefox 3.6.3.

When User B launches the application, the sandbox is created on the shared path as "\\ServerName\Folder\ComputerName_Sandbox".
Eg: \\ServerName\Folder\PCNAME_USERB

And, it will continue so on for all other users. And, none of these sandbox mix with others.
So, any user can make changes to his own sandbox.

Cheers!!

Maddy
